Looking Back at Crypt's Trials, BedWars' Halloween 2022 Event

Fighting the Crypt boss with a bow in BedWars' Crypt's Trials, from my 2022 video

Halloween in BedWars usually means a special mode, and in 2022 that mode was Crypt's Trials. It was a spooky co-op challenge where you worked through four trials, and if you beat all of them you got the Crypt kit for free. I made a video showing how to complete it back then. It's been watched over 78,000 times, so with Halloween coming up again, here's a look back at how it worked.

Important: Crypt's Trials was only playable from October 22 to November 11, 2022. You can't play it anymore, so this is a look back, not a guide you can follow today.

What made it different

Crypt's Trials wasn't normal BedWars. Kits were turned off, and the whole mode was played in first person, all in a dark Halloween map. You played it together with others, and a lot of the trials only worked if you actually talked to each other. I played it with TLegendLeo, who helped me with the whole event (and made the video's thumbnail).

Trial 1: The graveyard

The first trial dropped you in a dark graveyard full of gravestones. First you had to find 3 glowing pieces hidden around the area. Each one showed a symbol. Then you had to dig up the grave that had the same 3 symbols on it.

Trial 2: Following the light

This one was the most teamwork-heavy. One player could see a map of a maze and control a light. The other player was inside the dark maze and had to follow the light that their teammate controlled. So one of you guided, the other walked, and you had to talk the whole time.

Trial 3: Crypt Escape

Next was Crypt Escape, a run through dark, twisting passages. The goal was simple once you knew it: the blue light orb is the end. There was also a part where you had to light the ghosts, and then the gate would open.

Trial 4: The Crypt boss

The final trial was a boss fight against Crypt himself, in an arena where you fought with a bow. Before an attack, the Crypt shows an icon, and it tells you what to do. For the ghost attack, you needed to have the same number of people as the ghosts. Once you knew what the icons meant, the fight got a lot easier.

The reward

Beat all four trials and the Crypt kit was yours for free, along with the Necromancer Summon emote and the Crypt Master title. Winning without dying also gave you the Crypt's Trials badge. The Crypt kit lets you place gravestones and use a necromancer staff to raise skeletons of defeated enemies, building a little undead army.

What happened after

Crypt came back in a new form the next year. In 2023, the Halloween event was Crypt's Coven, which worked a lot like Crypt's Trials. By 2025 Halloween had moved on to a different mode, Marrow's Madness. The Crypt kit itself is still in the game and got a rework in May 2026, so it doesn't play exactly like it did in my video anymore.

Halloween 2026

BedWars runs a new Halloween event almost every October. When this year's event comes out, I'll play it and write a proper guide for it here, one you can actually follow. Until then, you can find working codes for other games on the home page.

If you played Crypt's Trials back in 2022, you probably remember that maze.
